Hello In Maori we have been looking at Matariki. Matariki is the celebration of Maori/ New Zealand  New years. We have been set a task to find 3 facts about Matariki. I think Matariki is really important to everybody.

1 in Japan they called matariki subaru

2 matariki starts at the 1 of june and ends late july.

3 matariki is one of the star clusters closest  to earth.

Wellington Facts

 Bonjour, today for huru 2 we have to find 10 fun facts about wellington. Every time we have huru 2 for 15 mins we have to do research about a random topic some other students made.

The current population of Wellington is 417,000.

The Maori name for Wellington is Te Whanganui A Tara.

The beehive is located at the corner of Molesworth street. 

The Wellington weather is mild, with plenty of wind. in winter Wellington is quite short and never extreme  with occasional frost.

In Wellington alot of people go by bus or taxi and its not weird to not have a car.

Wellington mayor Andy Foster faces council revolts after emailing changes to budget at 1:25am.

Wellington is the second largest city in New zealand. 

Wellington recently became famous after the  movie The Lord Of The Rings.

 Hello in class today we looked at a supernova. we had questions to answer about the supernova which had known a little about. I have done research on a supernova before and I thought this was fun an easy. I worked with Stella to do this an we worked on a doc to get the information. 

What is a supernova? A supernova is the explosion of a star. It is the largest explosion that takes place in space. A supernova is a star with a powerful and luminous stellar explosion. One type of supernova is caused by the last hurrah of a dying massive star. This happens when a star at least five times of the mass of our sun goes out with a fantastic bang!

What elements does a supernova consist of?  HE-  Helium  C- carbon  - H hydrogen                O- oxygen 

AU - gold - Fe - iron Si - silicon  

What happens to all elements/ materials in a supernova? After Years and decades the sun starts to burn the core of the supernova until it explodes. The He and H will make the boom and the iron and Au 

Supernova / star releases a very large amount of energy as well as neutrons, which allows elements heavier than iron such as Au/ gold and U/uranium to be produced. 

Why is there a supernova? No reason

How long does a supernova take to generate?

A few million years for the star to die, less than a quarter of a second for its core to collapse,a few months to brighten, and then just years to fade away.

The Bully poem Questions

 hello today we have questions about a poem about a bully. bully poem we read this as a whole class. I think this task is really fun because we get to read a poem about a bully. for this task we have been set two questions about this text. I really had fun doing this because its letting people share there Idea about the bully and this task. Q1. what did this poem made you think about a bully? - A1. This poem makes me think about a bully because of the way it describes what the bully is most likely to do. eg pick of the shy people. Q2. If you saw this bully what would you do? A2 - I would tell him to stop and that this is wrong. and that he should stop because its not doing him any good.

 Bonjour, Today in huru 1 me and 3 others make a really bad video. we had to show an example of an up stander. Casey was the bystander Jhonas was the victim stella was the up stander and I was the bully. I really had fun making this and sorry if this is really bad and cringey but it was really hard not to laugh. sorry we could not show the video because of a problem. I enjoyed being a bully even tho I wanted to be the upstander.

creative writing story about sailing across the sea

Hello, Ive been working on a story about me sailing across the sea. I really have fun learning about pacific navigation  and the story about the man who sailed the sea. Next time we could maybe look at more details of the pacific navigation. I really enjoyed doing this task and I had fun trying to come up with  ideas for this story. my favourite part of writing this story was when Miss Whea  Reawyn was away and we had Mr Scout as our reliever Mr Scout told me to put sharks in the story so I did and now the story is weird.

here is my story 

 ~ Once upon a sea amazing ride ~

As the waka smashes against the tall thick waves, the sea gets

rougher and stronger all you could hear was the roaring sound

of waves.  Me, Casey Smith with my friend Stella Coles

will sail

across the pacific ocean  without fail or doubt. I will succeed at my

task and do the best I can. As the night breeze ends the moon falls

and the sun rises I can smell the stench of seaweed. I thought “ well

at least there are no more roaring waves” I go and get a drink of water

and all I could taste was over salted beef  elgk. I continue to

sail across

the ocean with an empty stomach. I go to eat some fruit just as

someone shouted “ Ika I caught an Ika” I ran to the front of the

waka not thinking about the lightning that rumbles above us.

Before I could think I was standing before stella holding an Ika ,

she turned around to look at me with a smile on my face. After

eating some fruit we looked to see nothing but a night sky filled

with fog. Me and Stella wait for the fog to go way. Once the fog

distergreated into thin air we start to move again to be right in

front of Rapanui, a beautiful island with face stone carvings. We

land on the beach next to some rocks,we jumped off the waka

to be greeted by a beautiful song and dance. After a few days we

were back gliding  across the sea with a beautiful  baby blue sky. I

has a sudden glance of something out the corner of my eye. I saw

a shark and I look around the waka to see a group of sharks circling

the waka. There black eyes stared like a seagull wanting food, it sent

shivers down  my spine I turn around at the sound of a girl screaming

“help help" I sprint to save stella (she's the only person on the waka

with me) I jump on top of the shark and stabbed it in the eye It dropped

  Stella and I fell off  the shark swam away. Me and Stella swam back

to the waka and jumped back in. after sailing for a few days we started

to get exhausted and drained. (time skip) Now we are on our last day

and not far from our home. It was a burning hot bright day out in

the sun as we get a good picture of our home. The blue sky highlighted

the best part of the Island, we land on the soft light sand with a nice

welcome song and hug. It feels great to be back at home. As I run

towards my brother and mother I could see the tears in their eyes. I

give them a big hug and have a family feast. We laughed and

played

games, and have a boom fire. We stayed up late having fun It felt great.

After 99 days of sailing the sea it feels amazing to be back from a

unforgettable trip, a story to tell for years to come and a journey that

I will never forget. The waiata I heard during the journey that have been

shared through the generations shared the love of culture and the

meaning of life, the stories people have to tell have took place in my

own personal story I will cherish this trip for the rest of my days.

vocabulary words

 Hello this week we have been set task to do a kahoot or an crossword about our vocabulary words. I have learned a lot of meanings for some word I didn't even know. The 12 words we had to find the meaning of and put it into our own words are persistence, perseverance, adaptability, barrier, goal, aspiration, resilience, achievement, respect, empathy, integrity and commitment. I had fun trying to put these into my words and somehow turn these words into questions with making them the same question every time eg like what is the meaning of .....    here is a slide with all the questions from my kahoot.

the story of my life

 Today in wga I have been working on a DLO about my skill. my skill that I put down was Hockey, my favourite sport is Hockey and ive been playing for 5 years.  I really enjoyed making this task an next time I think we should do more  about stuff that were good at. I have learned a lot about what my friends are good at, like how Akimano is good at drawing. One thing I liked about this task is reading others splash page.

huru 1 photogragh about me

hello this week I have been working on a google drawing with photos of me. Something I have learned about me is that Ive had lots of friends during my life.  My favourite part of this task was looking at photos of me cause I have changed so much. next time if we where to do this I think we should have more time and more options.
