sleep and exercise for teenagers

Hello, this week  in health we have been looking at healthy food. We made our own menu with friends to show healthy meals you can eat. we did breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and snacks.
we also looked at sleep scedules and what to do when you want a good sleep. Every teen needs 8 - 10 hours of sleep( most  teens dont). Another fact for sleeping is to turn you device off 2 hours before bed and to brush your teeth do your skin care and have a shower. Sleep is very important for everyone so something to help you have a good sleep i highly recoment lavander oil to put on your wrists.  A decent time to go to bed if 9:00 - 10:00.
Exercise is good for your mental and physical wellbeing so its good for you to exercise. Even if you work out or exercise for just 10 minutes a day it is still ralitvely good. You start to breathe faster so your blood can pick up more oxygen from you lungs. Regular physical activity can lower your risk of heart criculatory disease  by 35%.  Being active is not just sports it can be going for walks or throwing a ball for your dog around the park.

logo work

Hello this week  in Wga we have been working on creating our own business. I worked with a friend Jhonas and Casey, we made a business called coffee delight and its a coffee cafe. We had to pick a color palette and a make our logo. we also had to fill out our mood board which has all our work on it and all the info on it. I enjoyed making this with my friends and working together with other people. I would absolutely do this task again  and make a business with my friends but I would pick different colors and change the name. Over all I loved this task and all the different things that came along with making the name and logo of a business.  My favorite part was drawing and designing our logo.

drama Maui and the fish tableaus

Hello this term in drama we have worked on tableau's.  I was in a group with Jhonas, Phoenix, Isabella and Sophie. one thing that worked well during the tableau's we could work together and make tableau's without any arguments or disagreements it was just overall fun and amazing to work with others. If I could change the tableau and do something differently I would make more expressive facials while working with my group.  In the first tableau we have great levels cause everyone was at a different  height and we were all in character Jhonas had amazing facial expression of a person who was just rowing and rowing . In our second tableau my favourite part was Jhonas and my role. I loved making the face and getting into the position. It brought so much life and craziness to the stage. I also like the physicality in the second tableau. we where all in different shapes and positions and  we all had amazing facial expressions. I really love the physicality and the work we put into the second tableau. To be honest our transitions were not at all good and were so off. I could say that the one thing that did not go well was the transitions but we gave it a go so we did it sorta. I really enjoyed doing the task and making tableau's it was so fun and it made drama so much fun and exciting. If I could do this again I would work with different people and work on my transitions. Over all I really enjoyed this task and I really liked the physicality in our group.

Australian bust fires

Hello today I have been doing research on the Australian bush fires. we had to get lots of facts about the Australian bush fires. I had not that much fun finding out about some of these facts.  One really interesting thing I learned was 46 million acres  of land was burnt down during the Australian bush fire.

3 billion animals died because of the Australian bush fire.

They say that lightning caused the Australian bush fire on the Kangaroo Island.

There were more than 445 people who died in the fire and more than 4,000 people who went to the hospital from to much smoke.

Over 2,000 homes were burnt down to ashes cause of the bush fire.

During the first week of  the Australian bush fire 1 billion animals died.

The Australian bush fire lasted 79 days and had costed over $103  billion dollars.

Something I really want to know is what was the temperature of the area the fire was in. what more could I add? what was your favourite fact about the Australian bush fire?

wood work term 2

Bonjour this term we did wood work and made a speaker. My favourite part of wood tech was painting the box the speaker sits in. We were told to write on our blog  6 steps out of the 15 steps to make the speaker.  I painted a night sky on the front of the speaker and painted the rest of the speaker black.  I really enjoyed wood work this term and I would love to do wood work again. when we had to put the box together we had to work with a buddy and my buddy was Stella. Me and Stella held each others boxes while we the other had to put glue on the pieces that needed to be glued. Our teacher for wood work was Mr Tish.

Step 1 was grabbing a piece of wood and putting you name on it.

step 2 is to mark out where the drill holes will be.

step 3 is to drill the holes.

step 4 is to get the back piece of your speaker.

step 5 is to put your back piece, front piece and two sides together.

step 6 paint the box once the pieces are all together.

The Dawn raids

discrimination - the act of treating some people unfairly because of prejudice.

prejudice - an opinion that is formed without knowing all the facts.

stereotypes - a standardised and unusually oversimplified  and inaccurate conception held in common by many people.

protest - an abjection or complaint.

social messaging - passing of a message idea from person to person in a community

learning - demonstrate how social  messages and stereotypes can affect feelings of self worth.

what happened - during 1970's there was a big stereotype that pacific people were over stayers which is a person who stays passed the due time to stay in a different country. it all started when New Zealand when there was not enough people to cover all the jobs so they called up on the pacific and invited them to stay in New Zealand to fill in on the caps. out of the sudden there was a saying that the pacific was over stayers because there was now some people not from  the Pacific who had no jobs so they made the pacific scapegoats and blamed them on problems they had nothing to do with. It got to a point that they were now getting raided in there own houses. the police came at 3am to ask these people to come out with pass ports and visas to prove any rights of the pocific to be in New Zealand. people wore now poisoned until they could get them a flight back to there own country.

sterotypes - pacific people were overstayers and were taking the jobs. how did the dawn raids impacted nz?   change the laws so no more people were getting raided and ask for proof that they belong in nz.

bastion point what happened ~ in small words in Auckland there was to many houses and no room to make any more. so there was one place called bastion point, bastion point was a small peice of land with no houses or anything on it. there was a group of maori who decided to grow kumara even though it was the wrong time of the year. they also built houses and a mare. the president then got tanks and police to go and  fight against the people who lived there. the people who lived there standed and used passive Resistance instead of violence. the police arrested them and destroyed the land and all they built. it was only 1988 they got there land back.

stereotypes -  that the people of bastion point were taking the land that they were not allowed. that the government was doing something wrong and that he should have not done.

Steam project

Hello today in Wga we have been working on a planing sheet for our invention. I am in a group with Stella me and Casey we are working on making a solo powered heat pump. We are making a 3D version for our heat pump and I have decided that we are going to make it mostly out of cardboard. on our planner we have made questions on things we might have trouble with while working on building it.  One thing I enjoy is the fact that what we are making is far beyond our knowledge so we are trying to find out ways we can make it work. for our steam tasks we have problems for our future that we need to solve with our project, the problem we are doing ours about is in 2050 there will be no more fossil fuels so we have to make things out of other materials.  When we did our research we had found out that the prime minister or someone else is   is going to get red of gas in nz homes which is also a big problem, so we have kinda worked around that with our task. on our planning we have 5 different pages we have to fill out with our ideas. all our materials is cardboard box, hot glue gun with glue, straws, scissors, two coke cans, coloured paper and bottle caps.

steam

hello today in wga we have been looking at a new kete called steam. we have been looking at a problem in different categories.a problem in the future is there will be no gas so I thought of some things we use alot that use gas.  we are working on gas to make hot water so we can have a shower. something to look at is that in a few years they are going to banned gas in New Zealand homes. a thought i had to change gas so we can have hot water is we can change it int solar power. one thing about solar power is that its a high cost and that it require lots of space that not many people will have. another problem we have is that solar power only works when there is sun light.

assessment task

Bonjour, this week we have been working on a recipe for a hornby high school student. I did what I thought of a Hornby High School student. I did this task on a google drawing cause i had no idea on what to do it on. I really enjoyed making this and trying to think of ingredients/ values we have as a Hornby high student.

role play huru 1

  • Moniques parents expect her to come home directly from school each day. But today jamila what's Monique to come to her house for a little “ get together” after school. Some of the other kids are coming over and Jamila's mother won't be home. Monique doesn't want to go because she knows her parents will be really angry if she goes and she isn't sure it is safe without adults there. Jamila doesn't want to take no for an answer monique is her best friend.

 Roleplay Idea:

……..

hello this past week we have been working on a role play that we had had to make by reading a text that the teacher set. I did this with Isabella in my class and we both gave each other our characters / roles. this was hard because we had no idea what to do and what we should do for this but we got it done and work together.

Roleplay story - Jamila “ HEY!!!!!! Wanna come over to my  house because my mum is not home and I've invited lots of PEOPLEEEEEEEEE!!! There will be coke and raspberry and lots of candy”
